You Can Now Join Arnold On Your Mobile
By Justin Oberman, 08/22/2006 - 11:13pm

Scwartz The Schwarzenegger for Governor "Join Arnold" campaign has just added a couple mobile components to their strategy and website. While it appears to be the typical array of SMS campaign news, info on critical issues and volunteer opportunities... this is still the first use of SMS in a gubernatorial race in the US.

I have posted before about how mobile is also being picked up in a few Senatorial races.

Its important to remember that SMS is not email and any attempt to use SMS as a simple "alert status" update type thing is doomed to fail. SMS is worth the startup and transaction fees when it is used they way its supposed to be used... as a mobilizer of viral communication, a call to action while on the go and thus effect people the way they are meant to be effected while on the go.

But at least the Schwarzenegger people are also looking into other mobile channels such as ringtones, at least they say they are.

Not sure which company is behind this one but I have a few guesses.
