I had lunch with a friend who told me he'd heard about this, but when I checked out the flickr frist tagspace all I see is a lonely shot of David Weinberger and an unrelated picture.

Speaking on the Senate floor "more as a physician than as a US senator," Senate Majority Bill Frist, MD, said he believed there was "insufficient information to conclude that Terri Schiavo is in a persistent vegetative state."
The one impressive thing about the "diagnosis" that Frist made on the Senate floor was that it involved -- you guessed it -- technology!
Frist apparently used a digital video of Schiavo to determine that the Florida woman who has been fed artificially since she was brain damaged in 1990 might not be in a vegitative state. Think that's against a few ethical standards, but moving on...
Now, I'm not one for partisan rants, but I just couldn't resist...
Imagine Frist leaves the Senate and takes up medicine again. I can see the ads now.
"Are you sick? Injured? Worried about a medical problem, but can't afford a physician? Well, worry no longer! Because Former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, MD, doesn't even need to see you to make a diagnosis and prescribe care.
I think we should take full advantage of Frist's openness to use technology to craft legislation and make a diagnosis.
So, I'll issue a challenge:
Take a digital picture or video of your medical problem – tennis elbow, acne, runny nose, hemorrhoids, or whatever ails you - and send it to the doctor in charge of the US Senate and your health care.
Everyone, take two minutes and upload your photos to Flickr.com. "Tag" the photo "Frist." If we get critical mass, we'll send everyone's photos to Dean Rosen, the good doctor's Health Care policy director!
Howard Dean might have brought us the "ah-ha!" moment in politics and the Internet. Dr. Frist is now pleased to present us with the “Kodak” moment.

For some bizarre reason it's not aggregating my very public photo of frist. i wonder it there is some kind of filtering going on?

I posted two photos and neither have appeared either. Flickr does screen new accounts and will reject "offensive" images. That could be what's going on.
I think it just takes their staff some time to filter new accounts, which is smart. My pics are up now along with several others.
Yes, Micah, Flickr reviews new accounts carefully, which is smart. My frist-tagged image this morning went right up. Liza, no idea why yours wouldn't be there. I'll go looking for it...

By big toe is killing me, Senator Frist. What's wrong with me?!?

If this is too disturbing, just let me know...I'll take it down.
Excellent idea! I tried to trackback this post, but it didn't seem to work. Not sure if the problem's on my end or yours. Anyway, here's my post. From the looks of it on Flickr, I'm not the only one with an armpit issue. I sure hope Dr. Frist can help me.
Tag, You're Frist!

If you go to http://www.dailykos.com/story/2005/3/24/1231/54074 it is also there; but it got lost in the morass of Terri Schiavo. They really have to redesign that site with folksonomies.
Anyhow, if anybody wants to give Kos a holler and have him move my entry to the front page, please do so.

Looks like we've got more than 50 photos posted at Flickr.com! I'll be e-mailing everyone's "contributions" over to Frist's office this week, and likely FedEx print-out's, as well. Doubt we'll hear back, but will keep everyone posted.
If you haven't uploaded your injury yet, hurry...there's still time!
I have ahd this itch on my hand for quite a while... what could it be????

Hi there,
Thought you might be able to help us out.
I'm writing on behalf of the more than 60 people who took my advice and posted pictures of their illnesses and injuries on http://www.flickr.com/photos/tags/frist/ in the hopes that Dr. Frist might be able to diagnose us over the Internet.
We heard what he did for Terri and wanted him to do the same for each of us. The use of technology to diagnose serious medical illnesses is usually something doctors do in an office, but with all that technology brings us, we know that an office visit won't be necessary.
Over the past week, friends, family members, and even strangers have posted photos of their injuries to http://www.flickr.com/photos/tags/frist/ and now we're all eagerly awaiting the doctor's response.
Please let us know what Dr. Frist thinks and may you all be healthy.
Best,
Michael

PS - I've pasted some of the 60+ photos that folks have uploaded below. If you're too busy to click on the link, I figured these four need the most immediate help...

Lame Excuse to Dis Frist
What a lame excuse for a partisan rant, Michael. Sheesh. But, hey, I can't blame ya.
I like your photo idea, though. Problem is, my ailment can't be photographed. As you know, I am plagued by a sick mind. How can Frist help me?
