Technorati's Tagging Tool
By Micah L. Sifry, 01/14/2005 - 1:32pm

Wanna have even more fun with your blog AND get more traffic? Then start tagging your posts, the same way photobloggers tag their pictures over at Flickr and surfers build their lists of favorite sites at del.icio.us. Technorati, which tracks the ever expanding blogos of over 6,000,000 blogs, is aggregating tags here, with a Flickr-like listing showing the most popular tags, listed alphabetically, with popularity indicated by larger font sizes. Go here to see the latest photos and links tagged "politics." Dave Weinberger has the early scoop here. Bloggers who already use categories will see those posts crop up too, but it's advisable to start adding a link of html to your posts with the relevant tags.

Big self-disclosure here: My little brother Dave is the founder of Technorati. Luckily for the Sifrys, at least one of the three kids is smart. I'm not saying which one. But Dave did IM me a few mornings ago (when it was 6am for him) to show me the early Technorati tag page he had coded. Took him the previous eight hours.
