Lynne Cheney + Bloggers = Love

I'll bet you never thought to ask Lynne Cheney, the Second Lady of the United States, what she thought about blogs. Well, Chris Matthews did.

Lynne Cheney appeared on Hardball last night. Here is a partial transcript (via National Journal's The Hotline):

On the evolution of blogs: "I think it's quite wonderful. It is a real democratization of information so that people don't have to rely on one or two sources, they've got multiple sources. And I can tell in about two minutes on a blog whether this is someone whose opinion I value or not. You know in a conversation when you're talking to someone who is bright and well-informed and I tell you, I think I can do that same thing when I'm looking at blogs on the Internet."

On her favorite blog: "I have a lot of blogs I read. I love Hugh Hewitt. I think he's terrific. I love Power Line. I read Instapundit. And I don't know, does RealClear Politics constitute a blog? I certainly looked at it a lot during the campaign."

Maybe the push towards getting candidates to blog has been misguided. Instead, we should have been targeting their spouses all along. Maybe next cycle.
