The Campaign for America’s Future (CAF) and the Institute for America’s Future (IAF) seek an Events Manager responsible for planning and executing events of all sizes, including the annual Take Back America Conference. The Take Back America conference brings together thousands of progressive activists, thinkers and leaders to discuss the ideas, hone the message, train the organizers, and build the infrastructure of the progressive movement to ensure that the voice of the progressive majority is heard. Basic logistics of the conference are handled by savvy and competent consultants, so the Events Manager can concentrate on speakers, participating groups, and public visibility.In addition to the Take Back America conference, the Events Manager will work with leadership and department heads to plan events to strategically advance organizational goals. Typical events will include issue focused conferences and seminars, book signings, film screenings, panel discussions, town halls, and CAF activities at DNC Convention. The Events Manager will also maintain a calendar of upcoming progressive events and strategically manage CAF/IAF involvement as sponsors, partners, or speakers at these events. The Events Manager is also responsible for coordination of biweekly meeting of progressive leaders.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manage planning of annual Take Back America conference
• Coordinate biweekly meetings of progressive leaders
• Plan and execute 1-2 events per month of varying size
• Coordinate details and schedules of major speakers, national leaders and grassroots activists
• Work with a diverse array of partner organizations
• Other duties as assigned consistent with the organization’s mission and goalsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• General political knowledge and knowledge of progressive politics, organizations and leaders
• Ability to manage multiple projects and to meet goals/deadlines
• Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and with others as part of a team
