Job Summary
The Database Specialist works with CWA’s Health Care and Employee Free Choice Act Campaign, which has placed up to 150 Coordinators in states and congressional districts across the country. CWA is a 600,000 member union representing workers primarily in the telecommunications, manufacturing, public sector, airlines, newspaper and broadcast industries. The Campaign mobilizes CWA members for legislative, political and workplace actions on health care and the Employee Free Choice Act.
Job Description
· Maintain and update information and generate reports from an Access database containing 150 Coordinators in assigned states and congressional districts, which tracks each Coordinator’s activity goals and results.
· Convert Access reports to Excel tables for public presentation.
· Enter data and coordinate data entry contractors to maintain quality control.
· Interface with a vendor to upgrade the capabilities of the current database and web-based reporting system and develop new web-based capabilities for Coordinators to report on campaign activities and manage volunteers.
· Respond to requests and provide technical assistance to Coordinators to facilitate their use of a web-based database, including data entry and generating reports.
Job Qualifications
Successful candidates must demonstrate many of the following qualifications:
· College degree required.
· Significant experience using Access software and generating reports.
· Significant experience using Excel software.
· Significant experience implementing and using Crystal Reports.
· Ability to develop online database systems using MS-SQL, ASP and HTML.
· Knowledge of data management software.
· Ability to work on multiple projects at once and meet deadlines.
· Strong attention to detail, including accuracy of data entry.
· Good writing and editing skills.
· Online organizing and communications experience.
· Experience integrating the work of online and offline campaigns, especially election campaigns, preferred but not required.
Job Specifications
· Full-time contract position for 6 to 9 months located in Washington, D.C.
· Hourly compensation commensurate with experience.
