Announcing... Meetup Charts!
By Joshua Levy, 10/15/2007 - 12:40pm

You’ve been asking for them, and now you’ve got them: Meetup charts!

The newest additions to our lineup of charts show the net number of Meetup supporters forming offline groups and communities in support of the Democrats and Republicans.

Democratic Meetup numbers

Although we aren’t seeing numbers like those in 2003 and 2004, when Howard Dean supporters used Meetup to great effect, Ron Paul’s supporters have embraced the site; with close to 50,000 supporters Paul is the only Republican candidate with a significant number of members. It was only in July that Duncan Hunter became first candidate besides Paul to have any Meetup supporters at all, and with 260 supporters he barely registers on the chart (you can uncheck the Ron Paul box to get a better sense of the numbers for Hunter and the other Republicans).
